Chicken Paprika and Dumplings Recipe
Chicken Paprika with Dumplings can be served, to excellent effect on a bed of rice or noodles. Preperation takes 30 minutes, serves 4.
Implements
- Large, deep frying pan with lid
- 2 metal or glass bowls
- stainless steel chopsticks
- stainless steel strainer
Ingredients
For Chicken and Sauce
- 1 onion
- 4 tbsp butter or margarine
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, 1″ cubed
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp salt
- 0.75 tsp black pepper
- 350 mL water
- 200 mL stewed canned tomatoes, water left in
- 200 mL sour cream
For Dumplings
- 3 cups water
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 2 cups flour
- 2 eggs
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 cups water
Directions
- Brown onion in shortening
- Add chicken, paprika, salt, pepper
- Brown 10 minutes, stirring occasionally with metal chopsticks
- Add water and tomatoes
- Cover, simmer slowly until tender (5 minutes)
- Remove chicken from mixture and set aside in small bowl.
- Add sour cream to mixture and blend well.
- Reduce heat.
Dumplings
- Add salt to 3 cups water, and bring to a slow boil.
- Combine flour, eggs, salt in bowl.
- Slowly add 0.5 cups of water and beat until gummy.
- Hand-roll into drops, and place in boiling water.
- Let each batch cook for 2 minutes, then rinse with hot water.
Combine to form larger chicken robot
- Add dumplings and chicken to the mixture, heat, serve.
