Yūichi Aizawa, now less of a jerk
Yūichi Aizawa, main protagonist from the ancient epic known as Kanon, is a jerk. Or at least, the persona forced upon the Player was. Walking in his shoes for such a time, I live responsible for mean-spirited behavior wrt Nayuki & Makoto. It’s somewhat crummy given that the Player is never really given an opportunity to mitigate the dickery with Right Choices. The game certainly steamrolled the Player into a particular disposition. All for the sake of the story, I suppose.

Traditionally, he’s moderately not-nice to Nayuki. However, when it comes to dealing with brats, he’s a big stinking hypocrite. His interactions with Makoto were rarely if ever civil.
In the newly reproduced anime, it seems he’s grown, changed somehow, into a lesser jerk. He doesn’t treat Nayuki as terribly, and is actually kind of nice to her. While still antagonizing Makoto, he doesn’t go out of his way to make her miserable either. He’s lost an aspect of scared bully, and gained one of quiet strength. I think I like this change of character. It’s turned him into a reliable Big Brother.
edit: I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed the change in Yūichi’s dickitude.
It also helps that Yuuichi is not a total dick in this version like he was in the Toei version. - Fred
