Meme: 20 things I think about me

Write 20 things about yourself. Time how long it takes you. Count the minutes’ delta. Then maybe tag that number of people. Or not, whatever.

  1. I really don’t like these Memes at all, they seem to occupy space that would be better wasted on actual content. However, this one seems interesting, so I’ll join in anyway. Ha!
  2. I’m doing this at work, so I hope I can finish all the items before someone calls me.
  3. I actually posted on the Megatokyo forums today, actually discussing the strip. This is unusual: most of my recent posts involved a variation of “Nice artwork” or “Please use proper sentences”.
  4. I’m starting to miss my laptop from a flexibility perspective.
  5. I drink around 3L of water in a given day, more if I’m sitting at my computer. I dehydrate easily, and this is hugely better for my health than drinking cola or snacking on something idly.
  6. I started writing my name as Alan J Castonguay because it’s incredibly unique in the wired. I have yet to see another one.
  7. I’m deathly afraid of traumatic blows impacting the back of my head. I would prefer to fall forward under my own control dozens of feet rather than a few feet backwards. This extends to a fear of being rear-ended while driving or stopping.
  8. I am incredibly amused by certain times of day, such as 5:12. Most powers of 2 get a giggle out of me.
  9. I cannot sit idly in a washroom without eye-tracing patterns from the chaos of tile floors. Sometimes this has resulted in wasting an hour. I’m not crazy.
  10. I really like human readable protocols, like HTTP, POP, SMTP, or IRC. It makes troubleshooting things /so/ much easier when you can enter the exact information into a telnet session.
  11. I have a serious issue maintaining relationships properly. Which is to say, I’m have to have serious relationships, I don’t like the watered-down ones at all. This means I over-extend, and then under-reach my goals constantly, and I alienate people.
  12. While I don’t have much care for snobbishness in other people, I love taking the time to make fun of them by being myself overly pretentious for an afternoon.
  13. I am a seeker of absolutes. Which is to say, when asking “what is a leader”, I am looking not for a dictionary definition, but a full and complete description of what it means to live in service to people being led, and how to get there. Huge and in-depth truths like these are hard to come by. I don’t settle for what Webster has to say.
  14. I am a perfectionist with respect to anything I write or organize. I take hours, or sometimes weeks, to contemplate and write a single line, be it code, verse, or essay. But when I do write it, it will be perfect.
  15. I spent years learning the teachings from NES-Tetris, and can pack anything into a Honda Civic.
  16. I am a control freak with respect to organizing my world. Some elements, like function header files and urls, undergo extreme scrutiny. Others, such as the floor and desk of my workspace, remains buried under several feet of crap. I don’t really like this, but procrastinating wrt floor-crap generally means I get more writing done.
  17. If I don’t do something now, It’ll never get done.
  18. I value translations from knowing-of-people into knowing-people, and try to inflict this on many internet-folk, but see #11 for the problems that causes. If I haven’t committed to sharing with you yet, please don’t be offended. Maybe tell me instead. I’m probably afraid of letting you down.
  19. I hate Indian foods, especially that funky yellow stuff. If I said your ethnic Indian food was good, it was either really weak, or I really like you. As an aside, I love tomatoes, but hate ketchup and most other vinegar-based toppings.
  20. I assume you’re all as intelligent or more so than myself, until proven otherwise.

Delta is 23 minutes, slightly slower than a line per minute. If you want to help propagate memish silliness, then do so. Do it now! Or not. If you have comments on anything, maybe I can develop it into a full blog entry. Imagine that!
