Alternative Rice Cooker Recipes
I thought that a simple rice cooker was good for a handful of things. For example, cooking rice and keeping it warm. Or steaming vegitables. Recently, however, I realized that this device is really a really hot pot, and can be utilized for preparing many other foodstuffs, such as soup or eggs. This can be very useful for cooking something tasty while at work or on the road, say at a convention.
- Heat canned soup to a boil, then reduce heat
- Spagetti - bring water to boil, add pasta, steam until no water remains
- Boil post-rave ramen - bring ramen to boil and crack egg over
- Brown ground beef for meatsauce - add 2 tbsp oil to pot w/ 300g beef
- Fried eggs - add 1 tbsp oil to pot, heat, crack eggs in
- Pancakes - use thin batter, flip once
I use a 500W Salton RC150 for all my cooking needs.
