Sometimes a problem gets sufficiently bad that you can’t “fix” it by normal means anymore. In those cases, it might be wise to stop, analyse the situation, and consider starting over from scratch. While this may be confused with giving up, that’s hardly true. It has more in common with admitting mistakes, and using that basis for planning not to repeat them. This applies to programming, car repair, and relationships.
