Revelations in Misfile

Sometimes a problem gets sufficiently bad that you can’t “fix” it by normal means anymore. In those cases, it might be wise to stop, analyse the situation, and consider starting over from scratch. While this may be confused with giving up, that’s hardly true. It has more in common with admitting mistakes, and using that [...]

Vintage Wireless Telephony

Confronted with the evidence that my 900Mhz cordless phone is interfering with wifi, I have been looking into some 2.4Ghz phones. Once invoked, mine mind concluded that it really needed a bluetooth headset and adaptor for connecting to a normal desk phone. Once it got on that track, however, it proceeded to contemplate style, which [...]

Hikari’s Back

Wireless service from Xplornet is working for now. I’m getting around 1Mbps symmetrical. There were some intermittent connectivity problems (packet loss & connection drop every 30 minutes or so), but they seem to have been mitigated by a change made this morning.
Going to watch the link, and see the slightly-less-intermittent-suckage. Hopefully this can be fixed. [...]

SuperChick - Get Up

When I’m rock climbing, I fall off the wall. This can be painful at times, either by leaving some skin on the rocks, or smacking something on the way down. Matt observed some inner tiger unleashed when in a particularly precarious position on the wall, from which great strength is summoned to keep one’s self [...]

Camping Trip Summer 2005

Seven hours, give or take, of northwardly driving, terminating within the Muskokas. One might plot the course along 401 through Toronto, 400 to Barrie, Hwy 11 to Bracebridge, 118 to Haliburon, if one were into such things.
Shannon and I hung out with Barry, Barb, and Irene for most of the week, burning under the daystar. [...]

Verselogic OpenID Consumer

Update (2006-10-09): This has been supplanted by the WPOpenID plugin.
Threw together a quick’n’dirty plugin for Wordpress this afternoon, now accepting arbitrary local account creation for OpenID identities. Anyone with an LJ or other OpenID server should be able to login and comment on this post.
Update: As requested, you can download the wordpress openid plugin source. [...]

Gone Camping

I’m leaving now to go camping for a few days with this girl. Back later, don’t wait up.

El Goonish Shive

Dan Shive presents a world where aliens, shapeshifters, and chimera are commonplace.
A thorough read through the archives is sufficient to enchant the dreamer’s heart, and sweep him off to magical places depicted.
There is a suitable swath of angst, drama, and romanticism to please any thirsting fanboy. And more than enough cute to make them thirsty [...]

Archive Author Aliases

The cwdb importer supports aliasing author names now. Which is to say, when importing something by Hairless in Gaza, it’ll suggest “Change to ’smurd’. (Alias) ” as an alternate username.
As always, report any problems you find.

Broken OpenID Ajax Implementation

I had a working ajax implemention of OpenID, but it’s broken now. I’ve poked and prodded it, and quite frankly I have no idea what happened. I suspect it might be a schroedinbug, which is why I havn’t asked the list about it, for fear of infecting their mindpsace. Two seperate implementations of mine, on [...]
