Gmail and Lynx

Google rolled out the plain HTML view for gmail, which has given Lynx users new hope. The formerly iframe-based javascript and css marvel is now available in a simplistic format perfectly renderable by the most basic of browsers. Some of the advanced UI features are missing, but this is nothing to complain about.

MIT602 Project Suckage

We’re comming into the homestreach of our project for MIT602. Unfortunatly, we’re no closer to figuring out just what we’re doing. The site is unsuitable (maybe we should have used a different company). The traffic analysis reveals no problems with their recently upgraded network. Maybe we’ll decide this week to draw up a plan for [...]

Horror Compiling OpenOffice.org or Hungry for Disc Space

Hikari is currently compiling away at OpenOffice.org. After finding out that TCSH was needed for a compile-stage, shaking my head in digust, and proceeding with the compile, I thought it would be relatively painless. I really did. But this compile’s been running for almost 14 hours now, and shows no signs of slowing. Now, CPU [...]

I started installing Gentoo on Hikari this week past. Progress was slow at first, butting heads against failed memory, a broken cdrom drive, and a flaky motherboard. After a round of hardware upgrades she’s cooking along smoothly. She’s booting under her own power with a tweeked [...]

Vineyard Website

Two young men approached me today regarding a project they’ve undertaken. Specifically, to overhaul the Windsor Vineyard’s website. The existing site was created in MSWord97, and is fairly shoddy by today’s standards. The people who would be responsible for maintaining this website have little experience doing web development. The two young men tasked with actually [...]

Death By Style Redux 1

I think I have the left background float problem licked. “wordwrapping certain text (font-specific) with italicized periods within div with margin and/or border within floated div within div” breaks the outer div’s left background-image margin, and causes some other render issues, based around IE’s broken box model I think. It also doesn’t handle clear: properly [...]

Producer Seeking Vocalist

There is a project underway which requires some vocal samples to be recorded. We are currently looking for someone with an interest in unusual ideas, an open mind, and a voice like Trent Reznor’s. This a non-profit project, but will have the vocalist’s name attached. Financial compensation will likely be provided for food and gas.

Turn Back Time to 2004

The nature of this city he called home, still calls home, this Megatokyo, is this; It is crafted through pencil, given life through words. It is this creative essence that drives, and sustains this city. Without it, all are lost.
from my reply to Arram’s Turn Back Time Fic-Filk in 2004
I wonder what kind of awesome [...]
