Ying Xiong (Hero)
Shannon and I went to the cinema to watch Ying xiong this evening.
China was once divided into seven kingdoms. Qin, northern king, is continually under threat of assassination. He fears three in particular; “Broken Sword”, “Flying Snow”, “Sky”. This day, a citizen of his lands walks into his palace, claiming to have killed all three. The backstory is explained in a series of alternate flashbacks, slowly uncovering the past’s truth.
I am impressed by the number of parallels that were drawn between swordplay, caligraphy, music and dance, and season’s changing.
The focus on backgrounds was simply astounding. That alone was worth the price, full lush environments. (Almost as if I am speaking of a game.) Beautiful. Must be seen on a large screen.
