Entry Moderation Flags

Currently, cwdb entry moderation flagging is limited to a single meta value on each entry, listing the fixed values Approved and Not Approved. Would it be useful to the users to have a more flexible flagging system for tasks? Such as “Incomplete”, “Wrong Author/Date/etc”, “Clean up formatting”, “Duplicate check”, or all other manner of operator or user-noticed problems that require human intervention to fix, but possibly deferred to another person or later time.

It would be a simple enough process to provide a near-infinately flexable set of options here, if it would be at all useful. Otherwise it’s a waste of resources.

I don’t really think this’ll be worth the effort you’ll have to put into it. Those of us with admin accounts tend to fix these problems as we find them, and I doubt much that non-members will bother reporting problems this way, for the most part. If they are really bothered by something, they’ll use a PM, or something of that nature.

It might be useful to have a generic memo field in which admins could note various things about a piece. The only thing you’d need to program would then be a way to pull up a listing of /all/ the pieces that have an admin memo.

But I still can’t think of a good reason to have even that. Like Shoka says, problems are generally taken care of when the mods find them.

On the other hand, it might be useful to have some sort of “remote URL Type” field. For all URLs still derived from the old UBB days, they could be marked as such, and also the ones with new, corrected URLs. It would serve as a sort of checklist for the admins to help ‘em figure out which entries still have the old links.

Except you could just as easily search for “ubb” or some other distinctive string in the URL text in order to generate a listing of all URLs that needed correcting.

Except that a lot of old post numbers have stayed the same since the conversion from UBB to IPB. Could you store only the post number, and then also a “post number type”, whose related table provides the display algorithms with an appropriate partial URL to append onto the front of the post number?

So… At the very least it’d be nice to explicitly be able to search for text in the URL field, to figure out which pieces need their forumlinks updated. All other thoughts and suggestions are optional.
