Ed’s Rat Problem

My uncle called two nights ago, asking for assistance with his computer. Specifically, a ‘1800 System Board Failure’ error. In addition PCI interupts wern’t working. Ram checked out fine, and there were no display corruption problems.

In stripping down the machine (under the assumption that the motherboard was toast), I found what appears to be rat feces deposited around the Amibios chip, and urine-induced oxidant on the SMC FDC37C669QF Multi/IO controller. The SIS5513 IDE controller appears besieged by small chunks of seed shells.

The SMC chip’s oxident seems to be the primary cause of board failure.

I’m not sure yet whether this can be cleaned up..

Edit: Nope. The motherboard is dead. Also, it appears to have taken the harddrive with it. No machine I have can detect it properly. The drive appears to be corrupt: Random characters in FAT.
