It will be really interesting to see what the Canadian Government’s take, and official response, on this issue is. Personally I expect them to gloss over it, and completely ignore their legal obligation. It seems that all too often people in seats of power, either political or corperate, live well outside the scope of law.
Beginning on November 30, 2004 George W Bush will be in a country that has endorsed the
WCC . Despite certain protestations to the contrary, Canada is legally obliged to arrest George W Bush for war crimes. Going all the way back to Nuremberg, the precedent for the WCC, the number one crime– the crime that got the Nazis hanged– is to launch “aggressive” war. All other crimes, such as torture at Abu Ghraib, murder of wounded prisoners, targeting of hospitals during war, denying basic medicines– stem from the primary crime against humanity, the crime against international peace. It is of little consequence how many of these crimes can be proved to involve Bush’s direction. What matters is he launched illegal aggressive war. If Canada does not arrest him, it means Canada is in breach of their international obligations as a signatory in the Hague.
One group, Lawyers Against the War (LAW), wants Bush arrested and charged with war crimes if he even sets foot in the country. The group says Canadian immigration law bars entry to those who have engaged in “gross violations of human rights.”

Living fairly close to the Canada/US border, we get a bit more Canadian news that other parts of the US. I was very aware of certain aspects of Canada/US relations over the years but this latest fiasco is breath-taking. So, LAW and others would like to arrest G. Bush? Apparently these folks are stupid as well as naive. Do they really think the Secret Service will just step aside and allow Mr. Bush to be arrested? Only a person of sub-normal intelligence would think so.
Actually, it might even get more fun if Mr. Bush WAS arrested. Most Canadians choose to ignore the fact that Canada is very weak, militarily. I suspect that come from and excess of wussies, but I don’t know for sure. In any event, last I checked, Canada’s entire air force consisted of 78 FA-18 Hornet jets. One, (1) US carrier has more jets deployed on it than the entire Canadian military possesses. There is no Canadian tanker corps. Ditto nuclear subs. I thin there may be one or two older Canadian diesel subs. What, exactly, the Canucks would do to stop even a single battalion of Abrams battle tanks is not apparent. The Canadians can continue to hang out up there under the umbrella of US protection. It is simply amusing to listen to the left-wing claptrap coming from North of the border. However, I suspect that the Canadian groups seeking our ex-president’s arrest, will find out what the US can do to the agency that starts something. I realize that Canadians are prohibited from owning most guns… down here, we aren’t.
very good us canadians should stand for what is right! for thats the joy of living in a peaceful, rightious country, that looks about solvin world issues with a friendly hand before pullin out our guns n flappin our mouths.yes our army is weak n that is a beautiful thing, the fact that we canadians dont need a strong army!!beautiful. its sad that the u.s thinks they protectin us canadians when their the country under attack, their violent government shows with in them ppl, n which comes to our peaceful canada… we dont need guns, killing ppl isnt gonna solve problems of the world.. i dont think bush should be murderd but he shouldnt be allowed in this peaceful country!!!! its a great honor to say I AM CANADIAN..
Canadians are wusses. Grow a pair and stand up for yourselves rather than allowing our good men to shed their blood for you and your “civil liberties”
